Services
Whether you are starting a dressage prospect, a jumper, or a trail horse, the goals do not change. All horses need to be calm, thinking, responsive, and happy in their work. And they all need to become relaxed, balanced and strong in their bodies, so that they have many years of health and soundness ahead.
Body Work
I offer a well rounded approach to helping our animal friends
Manual release
My manual release techniques include Equine sports massage, cupping, gua sha, Acupressure, and neuromyofascial release. What I offer is a little different than a relaxation massage, while your equine or canine friend will certainly feel the benefits of the relaxation, I focus more on the cause of muscle pain, injury, or fascia adhesions to relieve pain and prevent injury. This approach as been shown to increase performance, range of motion, offer pain relief, and increase endurance. In addition, massage assists in the prevention of debilitating muscular injuries and in speeding injury recovery time. During stall rest, massages can promote healing, stimulate circulation and can also release endorphins, which act as natural pain killers.Horses of all ages benefit from massage.
Kinesiology Tape
What is K-tape? Kinesiology tape is a performance support and therapeutic modality used to help support the body's natural healing processes and to optimize performance. Applications are often used to address soft tissue injuries, support muscle/skeletal structures, prevent injuries, and benefit the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems. Equestrians and healthcare professionals use this modality to achieve effective and affordable solutions for many training, care, and rehabilitation scenarios. K-tape works by interacting with the complex anatomy of a horse’s skin and fascia to achieve therapeutic physiological benefits. When tape is applied to the skin using different techniques and amounts of stretch, the recoil in the tape causes three main phenomena to occur; influence of soft tissue, stimulation of nerves and receptors, and support of musculoskeletal structures. In training and rehabilitation, K-tape is used to increase proprioception and muscle activation to effectively strengthen muscles and improve balance and stability.
Therapeutic modalities
Therapeutic ultrasound, TENS Therapy, Red light, cold laser, aromatherapy, magnet therapy, infrared heat therapy, dynamic stretching, in hand physical therapy and Reiki are some of the other modalities I may use in a body work session. These add-ons are included in your session at no additional fee. I may choose one or more additional therapeutic modality depending on the animals individual needs.
